IT'S TIME TO "STEP UP AND SERVE" AT PVC!

PVC's Ministry Search Committee is working with ministry and department leaders to fill church offices for the upcoming new church year (starts Oct. 1).  In this "issue" of PVC-Mail, we'll be highlighting a few ministry positions that have openings and may be of interest to you:

Foyer Ministries Scheduler/Coordinator
- Creates schedule for Foyer Ministries (Greeters) and helps facilitate/coordinate Foyer Ministries functions.

Deaconness Scheduler/Coordinator

- Creates schedule for Deaconesses and helps facilitate/coordinate Deaconess functions.

- Serves during worship approximately once every 6 - 8 weeks.

Worship Coordinators

- Serves behind the scene.

- Contacts each member of the worship team to determine responsibilities and any changes or needs.

- Ten minutes before each service, walk through the order of service and transitions with the worship team.  Offer prayer for those serving and members/guests attending.

Photography

- Work with Media/PR representative and the various ministries leaders to capture the church activities in pictures and video.

- May also be involved with photographing new members to help other church members get to know them and welcome them into our church family.

Host/Hostess for Potlucks

- Organize and serve church potluck meals (all church potlucks are scheduled for the 2nd & 4th Sabbaths of each month)

- Help encourage fellowship and acceptance of guests and new members

Multimedia Team Members

- Provides multimedia support to the various church programs and activities – including song services/Powerpoint presentation and DVD support, videotaping when requested, as well as satellite download programming and presentation.

- Works closely with the Audio team to coordinate technical support for the worship services and programs

Here's how you can help make this process easier:  Think about these questions and call an MSC member with your answer...

- Are you serving in a particular area(s) and want to continue to serve?  Don't wait - make the call and tell one of the MSC members.

- Are you ready to serve in a new area?  That's great -- tell us!

- Have you been watching and waiting, and now you're ready to help?  We'd like to hear about it!

- Do you want to know more about a certain office before you "step up to serve"?  (For example, you'd like to be a deacon, but you don't know the ministry description of what PVC's deacons do.)  Give us a call and we'll answer your questions.

We can make the job easier for the members of the Ministry Search Committee by contacting them first:

·               ADVENTIST SEARCH ENGINE - AdventSource, has just launched the church's first comprehensive targeted search engine. It searches internet web sites created and maintained by organizations and members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Contact: http://search.adventsource.org to try it out and bookmark it.

·               Beginning in 2007 a bank record or receipt from the charity is required documentation for all cash contribution deductions, no matter how small. A cancelled check or a notation on a credit card statement will qualify as a bank record. A receipt from the charity must include the date and amount of the donation along with the name of the organization. A log of small cash donations is no longer sufficient. Source: Davis & Associates CPAs, PS, Longview, Washington

·               THE ADVENTIST HEALTH STUDY STILL NEEDS MORE PARTICIPANTS and it's not too late for church members to return their questionnaires. If someone has lost their questionnaire, they can be sent replacements in the mail. Contact: www.adventisthealthstudy.org to enroll or to contact study directors to request a replacement questionnaire. It is important to complete them soon. Check out the progress results so far, and see what churches and conferences are excelling in their participation.

·               Christian Record Services has developed a unique and simple program to involve members in personal evangelism, personal ministries, or disabilities ministries. There are nearly 100 Adventist volunteers in North America involved in this ministry. The number of volunteers has doubled in the last six months! MOB can be operated in any church or conference.
